Sena was born in 1991 in Ragusa, a town located in the southern part of Sicily, Italy. Growing up in this picturesque region, he developed an early passion for football, which led him to pursue a career in the sport. After completing his high school education, he moved to northern Italy to further his studies, enrolling at the University of Pavia near Milan. There, he obtained a degree in Sport Science and Exercise, solidifying his foundational knowledge of athletic performance.
Keen to specialize in football, Sena continued his academic journey and earned a Master’s degree in Football Performance from the prestigious Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. This advanced education equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of football performance analysis, coaching methodologies, and tactical development.
Early Coaching Career
Sena’s coaching career began while he was still a student at university. His first significant experience came during an internship at one of the renowned Football Club Internazionale Milano center. This opportunity introduced him to the world of top-tier football coaching and provided invaluable exposure to high-level talent development.
In 2014, seeking to broaden his horizons, Sena moved abroad to Hungary, where he joined Debreceni VSC, a prominent club in Hungary’s Nemzeti Bajnokság I (the country’s Premier League). At Debreceni, Sena worked with youth teams and contributed to the club’s scouting department. His involvement in talent identification and recruitment at such an early stage in his career gave him critical insights into how clubs nurture and develop young footballing talent.
Expanding Horizons: International Coaching Roles
Sena’s coaching journey took him to Australia in 2015, where he joined Fraser Park FC and Dunbar Rovers FC in Sydney. At Dunbar Rovers, he served as the Academy Manager, overseeing player development and refining his skills in youth coaching. His time in Australia was a pivotal period, as he not only enhanced his expertise in youth coaching but also gained valuable experience managing first-team football, a crucial stepping stone in his career.
In 2016, Sena joined Juventus Football Club, one of Italy’s most successful clubs, where he held various roles including Technical Coordinator, Chief Scout, Head of Football, and Lead Coach. His international assignments with Juventus took him to countries including China, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, and Georgia, where he contributed to the club’s global expansion.
Return to Italy and International Growth
In 2017, Sena returned to Italy to take up a role with AC ChievoVerona, a Serie A club. His focus was primarily on youth development, helping nurture the next generation of players.

In 2018, Sena moved to England to join Yeovil Town in Football League Two, where he served as both Academy Coach and Head of Analysis. This role allowed him to develop further in the areas of tactical analysis and match preparation, providing a comprehensive understanding of the game from a managerial perspective as well.
Managerial Breakthroughs
Sena’s big break came in 2019 when he obtained UEFA A license and moved to Montenegro to work with FK Obilić as Assistant Manager. Here, he made substantial contributions, particularly in enhancing the club’s analysis and recruitment departments. He was also deeply involved in shaping the curriculum for the club’s academy, which helped to establish a strong foundation for future talent development.
In 2021, Sena’s career took another major step forward when he was appointed as Assistant Manager at Al Faisaly, a prominent club in the Saudi Premier League. Under manager Paolo Tramezzani, Sena was part of a coaching team that guided Al Faisaly to compete in major tournaments, including the Saudi Super Cup and the AFC Champions League Elite. His leadership and tactical input were instrumental in the team’s success during this period. Sena also briefly served as caretaker manager, gaining first-hand experience of managing a top-level club.
First Managerial Role
In 2022, Sena received his first managerial appointment with AEP Kozani, a club in Greece’s third division. This role marked a turning point in his career, as he transitioned from an assistant coach to the main managerial position. Despite the challenges that come with managing a third-division team, Sena’s leadership and tactical expertise helped improve the club’s performance and set the stage for future growth.
Recent Developments
In 2023, Sena continued to expand his managerial portfolio when he joined Livingston FC, a Scottish Premiership team, as Assistant Coach and Head of Analysis under David Martindale. His work at Livingston focused on both tactical analysis and game preparation, strengthening the club’s approach to high-level competition. However, after one season, Sena decided to take on a new challenge agreed with Martindale.
Sena contracted to terms with Podosfairikos Omilos Xylotymbou 2006, a club in Cyprus’ Second Division, where he accepted the role of First-Team Manager. This represents another significant step in his career, as he looks to build upon his growing managerial experience and take the team to greater heights in the competitive Cypriot football scene.
